Interview with GP leader on LMC Conference and Support Your Surgery campaign

In a new interview for BMAtv, Dr Laurence Buckman, Chairman of the BMA’s GPs Committee (GPC), rounds up the latest news from the 2008 Local Medical Committee (LMC) conference and talks about the million strong petition handed into Downing Street as part of the BMA’s
Support Your Surgery Campaign.

The Support Your Surgery campaign
The BMA’s Support Your Surgery petition has attracted 1,196,000 signatures to date and was delivered to Downing Street by representatives of the BMA’s General Practitioners Committee (GPC) on Thursday, 12 June. Full details about the campaign and the petition can be found on the BMA’s

The LMC Conference
The LMC conference, which took place on Thursday, 12 June and Friday, 13 June 2008 at the Institute of Education, is an annual gathering of GP representatives from across the UK. As in previous years, it met to discuss the key issues facing general practice and how the BMA should respond to the challenges that lie ahead in the next 12 months.
