About Parliamentary Affairs in Northern Ireland

The Parliamentary Affairs office in Northern Ireland is here to both promote and defend BMA members' interests in the Northern Ireland Assembly. Parliamentary Affairs performs various functions:
  • Acts as the liaison between the BMA (Northern Ireland) and the Northern Ireland Assembly
  • Keeps politicians of all parties informed of BMA Policy Developments
  • Provides briefing material for politicians’ use on key health issues
  • Co-ordinates BMA activities with various Assembly Committees
  • Provides information for BMA members on how to contact their local Member of Parliament (MP), Assembly Member (MLA) and local councillor
  • The Parliamentary Affairs Northern Ireland office exists alongside BMA Public and Parliamentary Affairs teams in Scotland, Wales and at Westminster.
